Vital Metals aims to double size of its West African gold tenements
Vital Metals (ASX: VML) has lodged two new Mineral Exploration Permit applications with the Burkina Faso Department of Mines that, if granted, could nearly double the size of its West African gold tenements.
The two new permit application areas join the boundaries of the company's existing Exploration Permits. The “Zeko” Permit application adjoins the southern boundary of the Doulnia Permit area and the “Mediga” Permit application adjoins the northern boundary of our Campala Permit area.
Together these four permit areas (2 granted, 2 applications) form a contiguous block covering over 900 square kilometres.
These new applications are important to Vital’s gold resource definition ambitions in Burkina Faso because they secure greater exposure to Birimian Greenstone terrain within the highly prospective Bole Shear Zone‐ Markoye Fault Zone junction area.
The applications will close off gaps between existing permits and nearby natural geographical limits to exploration access, specifically the Ghanaian border to the south and the National Park to the north. This eliminates the possibility of competitors securing ground that inhibits our extensions to exploration.
They also allow for greater flexibility in the execution of exploration work programmes and increase the possibility of a cost‐effective, multi‐open pit mining and central ore processing and development.
In addition, Vital Metals has recently appointed new Senior Geologist Kebe Oumar and Burkina Faso Logistics Manager Paul Bayili.
Howard Carr, managing director, said “Kebe has over 15 years experience in gold exploration in Birimian Greenstone terrains and comes to Vital after a celebrated career at IAM Gold, and Anglo American."
"Paul has over 15 years of logistics management experience dominantly related to foreign agribusiness investment in Burkina Faso. Kebe and Paul will increase our on‐ground capacity and operational efficiency," Carr added.
Vital recently announced shallow, wide, high‐grade gold intersections from the first ever, gold‐targeting drilling campaign at Doulnia.
Vital Metals believes these early stage results demonstrate the Doulnia project area is host to a well mineralized system and that an increase in the tempo of exploration at Doulnia is clearly justified.
Oumar has designed and is supervising the implementation of a multi‐stage soil sampling programme which will cover over 300km2 of Birimian Greenstone terrain not already covered by soil sampling, within the company's exiting Permits.
Vital is in the process of generating the next phase of Doulnia drill targets.
